Out with the old...
 Taken in August 2008
In with the new! (Sorry about the blur pictures...)
Yea, baby. I'm POSTGRAD now.
But post grad ain't now walk in the park, man. No sir.
I am now doing a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice a.k.a. Practical Legal Training, which is kind of like CLP back in Malaysia, only that we do not have exams but are assessed based on our work.
Our orientation was on 23 June, followed by Intensive week from 12 July to 20 July. After 8 days of grueling, intensive Skills School, we started our office program on Monday 4th August.
During office program, we are allocated into Student office, where we have our of firm names. My firm name is Dodson & Fogg solicitors. Our firms are allocated on Level 3 of the Law block. Basically, we "work" from 9am to 5pm. We wear professional wear and do "lawyer" stuff like writing letters of advice to clients, affidavits, costs assessment etc etc. It's only been a week and I feel like I've done a tonne of work!!
We have a couple of briefings (that's 'lecture' for you, undergrads! ) a day, which is about an hour to an hour and a half long. Briefings occasionally get postponed or be push forward, but that's okay, since we have to be in uni whether there's briefings or not.
We come to office 4 times a week - we have Wednesdays off, but we can always come to the office, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, we have to wear professional attire, but on Wednesdays, weekends and after hours, we can wear casual.
I am currently doing 5 subjects - Commercial, Property, Litigation,
Interaction and Family. We have about 3 to 4 pieces of work to hand in
each week to be graded. We can get extensions for our work, but I
prefer to finish my work before the due date.
I've been staying in the office after hours to get some work done. There really isn't much I can do at home anyway. Too much distraction.
So this is my daily plan for the weekdays. Wake up at 7.00am, eat breakfast, shower, reach uni at 9.00am, do work work work, leave the office at about 9.30pm, go down to the city for dinner, come home and hey presto, it's 11.00pm! Time for bed! I'm pretty much busy all weekdays, but I do plan to leave my weekends free to chill. Don't wanna get burnt out too fast!
It's now past the 12.30am mark and it's waaaaaaaay over my 11.00pm bed time, but I don't plan to wake up until 10.00am.
Ahh.h... I love the weekends.
Good night, everyone.

| If you have been wondering where have I been for the past 2 weeks, rest assure that I am still alive and well.
I got caught up with a lot of stuff, like renewing my student visa, going for my medical check up and Xray, buying working clothes for my legal practice and getting ready for my post-grad.
My post-grad intensive course started a week ago and ended last Sunday, and it has been a very, very tiring week. We have some free time until the office program starts in August, but we still have a lot of stuff to do, like a letter of advice to a client, legal accounting, drafting a will etc. Loads of lawyer stuff.
My graduation is on 15th of August at 2.30pm. Can't wait can't wait!
I will disappear from the blogsphere for for long periods of time, but you can always catch me on MSN.
Be well, friends!

| You know that you've watched too much Big Brother when you see this notice on your housemate's door.

And don't ask me what "hanky panky" goes on in this house. We're all good kids okay.
Gonna watch Italy vs Romania now!

| Freedom has never tasted this sweet.
Now that I have "unofficially" completed my degree, I am looking forward to spend the rest of my days eating, shopping, going to to gym or just laze around at home.
The moment the invigilator told us "Your time is up", I smiled. I kissed my exam answer script as I handed it in. I walked out of the exam room, cool as cucumber. Surprisingly I wasn't as nervous as I usually am after an exam. I wonder if that a bad omen.
I've worked too hard to repeat another semester.
It's all up to fate and destiny now. | | |
